Peel

Turn any photo into a sticker. Peel cuts out the main thing and puts a white border around it like a real die-cut sticker, and then you just copy it and paste it into GoodNotes. You can make a whole set from one photo, and it all happens on your own device, so your photos NEVER get uploaded anywhere.

Code under MIT. The cutting out is done by IS-Net (Apache-2.0) running on ONNX Runtime Web (MIT), right in your browser.

Tata's Kitchen

My Tata's recipe cards, all 145 of them, with a photo of each card in his own handwriting. It's made for my grandma, so it has big letters and big buttons, a little drawing next to every line, and a cooking mode that goes one step at a time with timers.

His recipes, typed word for word from his cards. Drawings made for this site; the food photos are similar dishes shared under Creative Commons, each credited on its recipe.

How to Know a Person

A study companion for David Brooks's book. Every chapter has its main idea, the stories worth remembering and what to take with you, and there's a bank of good questions to ask people plus a one-page sheet of the conversation moves. Mark a chapter read and its lamp lights up.

Kavana

A focus timer that checks in on you. You type what you're working on and pick how long, and every so often it asks "Still on it?" or sends you a little nudge, even when the app is closed (and a cat pops up to say Boo!). It has breaks, a spot to park stray thoughts, a Later list, background noise and a breathing screen, and at the end it asks how it went and keeps a log. You don't need an account, since everything stays in your browser. Make one if you want it backed up, or to focus together with friends.

Code under MIT. The nudges quote Pirkei Avot, Seneca, Horace, Emerson, Thoreau, Robert Frost, Simone Weil, Jim Elliot and Annie Dillard.
